Murai batu ( Magpie stone )


Magpie stone (Copsychus malabaricus), also known as Kucica forest. Included in the family Muscicapidae or worm birds. Spread throughout the islands of Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, and parts of Java. Some experts consider the race from North Kalimantan Murai white eyebrows (Copsychus malabaricus stricklandii) as a separate species.


In its natural habitat the magpie rocks tend to prefer dense natural forests or secondary forests. Magpie stone is a group of birds known as territorial and is very strong in defending its territory (Thruses). The stone magpie has a good chirping so it gets the best award for its beautiful song in 1947 (The Best Song Birds - Delacour, 1947). Stone magpie is a group of birds who enjoy doing among the lovers of chirping because it has a very good sound or chirp specifications.


For the Sumatra region in particular, there are many types of stone magpie birds, such as the Aceh magpie bird, field magpie bird, nias magpie and Lampung magpie.

The distribution of Murai Batu birds on Java Island is currently very limited and is only found in some forested places, such as in conservation areas or natural attractions such as Ujung Kulon National Park and Meru Betiri National Park and Pananjung Pangandaran Tourism Forest.
